People are counting down the days until "Beauty and the Beast" will finally be released in the cinemas. But before the big day, one character's sexuality started a controversy to the point that one theater even refused to show the Disney live-action film. Josh Gad, who plays LeFou, reacts to all the hate this his character gets for being gay.

LeFou is popularly known as the loyal sidekick of the film's villain, Gaston. While the "Beauty and the Beast" character is part of the tough gang, the Disney film revealed that LeFou is more of a lover than a fighter. It appears that the main reason why he hangs around is because he adores Gaston way too much and would do anything to make him happy and feel special.

While LeFou's sexuality is such a shocking and intriguing twist, not everyone is on board of the "Beauty and the Beast" character being gay. As a matter of fact, CNN reported that one theater in Alabama is not going to show the Disney film when it opens on March 17 because of LeFou's "gay moment" in the movie.

After learning that his "Beauty and the Beast" character got a lot of hate for being the first openly gay Disney character, Josh Gad spoke about the controversy of LeFou's sexuality. “What I would say is that this film is one of inclusiveness,” the actor, who previously voiced Olaf in "Frozen," told People. “It’s one that has something to offer everyone.”

The 36-year-old actor, comedian and singer then shared his disappointment that most people are still not ready to embrace reality. “There is so much fear out there of that which we don’t understand that which we don’t know,” Josh Gad said.
