'Iron Man 4' News & Update: Robert Downey Jr. Chooses 'Sherlock Holmes 3' Over Tony Stark?
Robert Downey Jr. is definitely one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. With his popularity, the actor may be having troubles in choosing as to which project to do first. Although RDJ already confirmed that "Iron Man 4" is definitely happening during his guest appearance in The Ellen DeGeneres show back in 2014, reports also revealed that he is set to reprise his role in "Sherlock Holmes 3."
According to IGN, Robert Downey Jr. is ready to become a private detective once again in "Sherlock Holmes 3." With this new update, many wondered if the 51-year-old actor will choose this character over Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4." The site seemingly confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will be back for the third installment, giving Marvel fans quite a fright regarding the hopes of "Iron Man 4" happening soon.
Since Marvel Studios have not confirmed nor denied any of the "Iron Man 4" rumors, fans took it upon themselves to figure things out. If Marvel Cinematic Universe will follow the comic book storylines, then we will be seeing Robert Downey Jr. mentoring a young girl named Riri Williams in "Iron Man 4." There have been so many whispers and speculations regarding "Iron Man 4" but one that has never been confirmed was the film's official release date.
When Marvel Studios shared their Phase 3 movie lineup, "Iron Man 4" was nowhere to be found. It seems like fans has yet to extend their patience to see Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark once again. While there is still no word regarding the release date of "Iron Man 4," Marvel Studios confirmed that Ant-Man and the Wasp," and "Black Panther" will debut on 2018 and "Captain Marvel" on 2019.
Unlike the 2018-2019 upcoming films, Marvel Studios did not mention what three movies are going to launch on 2020. As for now, it is safe to say that we will still be seeing Robert Downey Jr. in his famous red suit when "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1" debuts in 2018 and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" releases in 2019.
