Pruit Taylor Vince, 54, a versatile character actor best remembered for his recurring role as J.J. LaRoche in The Mentalist, and Eve Harlow, 25, known for her portrayal of Maya Vie in season two of The 100, along with newcomer Francesca Eastwood, 21, the daughter of Clint Eastwood with Frances Fisher, have all been added to the growing cast of Heroes Reborn, a 13-episode miniseries from Heroes creator Tim Kring that will air in fall 2015.
Heroes Reborn will be a stand-alone story set after the events seen in Heroes' season four finale. While no characters have been announced, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke told the press that "we won't rule out the possibility of some of the show's original cast members popping back in." According to the official synopsis, the miniseries would "reconnect with the basic elements of the show's first season" in which ordinary people discovered that they had special abilities. The show will be preceded by a new digital series that introduces the new characters and storylines around which Heroes Reborn is centered. The prequel series is titled Heroes Reborn: Digital Series and it will air first on digital platforms including channel websites, Hulu, and video-on-demand.
Vince, Harlow and Eastwood join a cast that now includes Jack Coleman, Zachary Levy, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Masi Oka, Gatlin Green, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Rya Kihlstedt, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Toru Uchikado, Danika Yarosh, and Henry Zebrowski. Except for Coleman, Jean-Louis and Oka who will be reprising their original Heroes roles as Noah Bennett, The Haitian, and Hiro Nakamura, respectively, the characters which will be portrayed by the other cast members have not yet been disclosed.
Executive producing the reboot miniseries are Peter Elkoff, James Middleton, and Holly Harold. Matt Shakman will direct the first episode of Heroes Reborn. Filming for the show started April 6 in Toronto, Canada.
