Miles Teller, 28, best remembered for his roles in Two Night Stand, Whiplash and the Divergent films, is now attached to star in New Line's adaptation of Home Is Burning, the upcoming memoir of author Dan Marshall which has yet hit shelves in October via Flatiron Books. Confirmed as director for the big-screen version of the biopic is Jonathan Levine whose credits include Warm Bodies and 50/50. Marshall will himself write the screenplay based on his book while both Teller and Levine will also produce the film adaptation project.
In the book, Marshall recounts a time in his life when he had to return home to live at his parents' basement so he can help out after his mother faced a cancer relapse and his father was diagnosed with ALS. A recent college graduate then, he together with his four siblings, all colorful characters with life challenges of their own, formed what he called "Team Terminal," going to battle againstHe describes them thus: "His older sister Tiffant is resentful, having stayed closer to home to bear the brunt of their mother's illness. Younger brother Greg comes to lend a hand, giving up a journalism career and evenings cruising Chicago gay bars. Younger Sister Michelle is a sullen teenager experimenting with drinking and flirting with her 35 year old soccer coach. And baby sister Chelsea, the oddest duck in a family of misfits, can only think about dance."
Home Is Burning would be the second time that Teller would be producing and starring in a film adaptation project. Just last month, it was announced that he is attached to star in Universal's adaptation of The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang, a non-fiction work written by Josh Dean. The movie version of the written account of a true-to-life story will be directed by Ruben Fleischer whose credits include Zombieland and Gangster Squad.
Teller was recently seen on the big-screen in his Peter Hayes character in The Divergent Series: Insurgent, the second in the series, which was released on March 20. He will also be seen next as the newest incarnation of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the reboot version of the Fantastic Four film which is scheduled for cinema showing beginning August 7.
