"Jurassic World" Considered a Sexist Movie as Tweeted by Joss Whedon
The first trailer of Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow was seen yesterday and fans thought it lacked the stars of the film, the dinosaurs as reported by Time news.
The trailer got a not-so-good comment from a fellow director Joss Whedon saying that Jurassic World clip is like a sexist back in the 70s.
The clip involves the scene wherein the character played by Chris Pratt is mocking his co-star's character Bryce Dallas Howard is playing. It was when they had their first date and Bryce brought an itinerary to be followed plus refusing a tequila drink just because she says she was on a strict diet.
Whedon, who has helmed and written "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and which will be shown a month early than the Jurassic World premiere, said on Twitter that he wishes that the female character was stiff while the male character was full of life. He even mentioned that the clip looked more of a sexist from the 70's era.
Joss Whedon is also known for his reputation in writing female characters that are strong and powerful in his exciting stories. Examples are Zoe from the movie Firefly and the popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer. These characters are far from being stiff as what he has seen in the Jurassic World clip. What he saw was a character playing without emotions, stiffly looking and a woman who is over-organized. With Pratt's character, Whedon said that his character was charming at making sexy jokes and a humble man.
The remark can also spark controversy as Whedon is making a call on a fellow director's piece of work especially when his blockbuster movie is about to be shown next month.
