Daniel Radcliffe, 25, best know for playing the title role in the Harry Potter film series, is in talks  to star in BBC Films' Grand Theft Auto, a true-to-life account of the fight between Sam Hauser, the creator of the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise and Jack Thompson, a Miami lawyer who wanted to ban video game violence according to The Hollywood Reporter. Radcliffe is reportedly being wooed to play Hauser, the co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, the company behind GTA as well as games such as Max Payne and Red Dead. Owen Harris is directing the biopic from a script by James Wood based on David Kushner's book Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto. The film is set to shoot later this month, after the role of Jack Thompson is cast.

Thompson, an unorthodox Florida attorney was already known for attacking media companies for pushing rap and sex onto the airwaves when he turned his attention to what he saw as an obsession of glorifying violence in the video game industry, and one of his favorite targets was Hauser's Grand Theft Auto. Thompson was disbarred in 2008 for inappropriate behavior.

The latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto series is Grand Theft Auto V which is coming to PC on Tuesday, April 14th. Digital pre-orders for the game's PC port come with $1.5m in-game currency, with $1m being devoted to GTA Online while the remaining $500K is for the single-player campaign. According to the game publisher, the upcoming PC version will support 1080p 60fs visusals and up to 4K resolution, as well as triple monitor configurations. It will also include the Rockstar Editor for editing gameplay clips and publishing them to the developer's own Social Club website as well as on YouTube.

The Grand Theft Auto V action-adventure video game was released first on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles in September 2013. Back then, it already became the fastest-selling electronic entertainment release, racking up $1 billion in sales during the first three sales days. It was then re-released in November last year, following which it sold 10 million more copies during the last holidays. Total sales of the game have now exceeded 45 million copies, Take-Two said in a statement. With that, Grand Theft Auto V becomes the best-selling game of all time having surpassed Nintendo's original Super Mario Bros. by 5 million.
