'American Horror Story' Will Have Chloe Sevigny Returning for Season 5
FX announced that the American Horror Story anthology series would return in October 2015, with a fifth season, sub-titled Hotel. According to network president John Landgraf, the upcoming season will witness a "huge reinvention" for the series. Recently, show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted: "very excited to announce that Chloe Sevigny returns to the AHS family as a series regular on 'AHS: Hotel.'"
Sevigny, 40, was last seen as the nymphomaniac inmate Shelley in American Horror Story: Asylum during season 2. Her other TV credits include playing a lead role in HBO's Big Love series for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She also starred in Hit & Miss where she played a transsexual contract killer. On the big-screen, she appeared in such films as Boys Don't Cry, Melinda and Melinda, American Psycho, Zodiac, Manderlay, among others. Sevigny joins Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, and Lady Gaga among the confirmed cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.
Bomer, 37, who previously guested on Freak Show and the other Murphy shows The New Normal and Glee told reporters at the network's Paleyfest panel: "I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy. It feels like this world where there are no bounds."
Jackson, 39, whose small-screen credits include also guesting on Murphy's Glee as well as appearing in 30 Rock, played parts in such films as Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks and United 93.
For Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), 28, being given a role in the weekly series will mark her largest TV acting gig to date. It will also be her first regular scripted gig after several past appearances on unscripted TV fares like So You Think You Can Dance, The X Factor, and American Idol as well as cameos in feature films like Machete Kills, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Muppets Most Wanted.
The casting of Sevigny and Lady Gaga comes at a time when the future of the anthology's leading ladies remains still in question. Jessica Lange has repeatedly said that season four, Freak Show, would definitely be her last; co-star Sarah Paulson is set to star in Murphy's FX anthology American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson; Emma Roberts is slated to co-star with Lea Michele in Fox's comedy anthology Scream Queens; and, Taissa Farmiga is now signed on with ABC's police anthology L.A. Crime.
To date, it remains unconfirmed whether regular as well as recurring stars Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Denis O'Hare, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy will also be returning to the show for this coming fifth season.
