LG Watch Urbane, Samsung Gear S and Apple Watch: Comparative Review
The Apple Watch is set to face stiff competition even before its release due to the presence of other smartwatches, especially Samsung Gear S. But Samsung watches are not the only competitors. LG debuted in the smartwatch arena with its Watch Urbane and stands as a strong challenger.
The weighing factor for the watches seems to be compatibility. Where Apple is said to be compatible with most of its own systems, the other smartwatches are compatible with various other popular software.
The specs of the three smartwatches are entirely different. Urbane boasts a 1.3 inch circular OLED display while Samsung has a 2-inch Amoled. Apple is set to have a 1.5 to 1.7 inch screen. Apple outweighs the other two in storage providing an 8 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM. LG and Samsung have only 4 GB internal memory. Samsung is using its Dual Core 1 GHz processor while Urbane has a Quad Core 1.2 Ghz. Apple has developed the watch over its Apple S1 processor.
LG watch is the lightest at just 45 grams. Samsung comes next with 67 grams and Apple watch weighs around 70 to 125 grams. LG watch and Samsung both provide good connectivity of 3G. LG also has 4G LTE option where Apple provides none. The battery capacity of Apple Watch remains unknown. Samsung offers a battery of 300mAh while Urbane has 400mAH for 3G and 700mAH for LTE.
The pricing of LG Watch Urbane is the heftiest at Rs.30,000 to Rs.35,000 approximately. Samsung costs around Rs 24,900 while Apple Watch is estimated to start at Rs.22,000. Even at that price, due to LG's compatibility with other devices, it is expected to run better than the other watches, especially the Android users.
