Taylor Swift, Microsoft among Those Buying up .porn Suffixes
Singer Taylor Swift and Microsoft are buying a lot of .porn and .adult suffixes which are released with their names in it, in order to make their images from getting tarnished unnecessarily. This move is aimed at purchasing the domain names before anyone else can buy them and misuse it against Taylor and Microsoft. Also joining this list is education giant Harvard University.
The ICANN or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has started to make more suffixes available for common people other than .com and .org. This is creating a lot of havoc for famous personalities and institutions because porn sits and adult sits with their name somehow getting in the domain are being released and it is of course tarnishing their image. From June 1, 2015, anyone can buy any type of domain, and this rule makes it that much harder for parents to regulate what their kids browse. And not only this, if you buy the domain now (pre-book it in your name), you can avail a heavy discount.
So the celebrities are gearing up already to buy out all the domains that might lead to hamper them or their image in the future.
Microsoft has confirmed that it has bought 3 domains already - Microsoft.porn, Office.porn and Office.adult as well.
Taylor Swift has not yet officially confirmed this news.
With online content already getting more viral with each passing minute, something really needs to be done to regulate the misuse of the internet.
