Jamie Lee Kirschner, 33, who played Dr. Olivia Wilcox in Fox's The Mob Doctor, will be seen back on the small-screen in The CW's upcoming pilot Dead People.

Developed for the network by Warner Bros. TV, Dead People centers on an alcoholic cab driver who gains the ability to interact with ghosts, including his late ex-wife, after a near-death experience. Tom Karpinos of Californication fame wrote the script and is executive producing the project via his Aggressive Mediocrity banner and with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company.

Andrew J. West, 28, who played Gareth in the Walking Dead, was earlier handed the leading role in Dead People where he will portray the character of Floyd, who suddenly finds he has the ability to interact with ghosts. Kirschner on the other hand is cast as Charly, described as a tough, talented, no-nonsense cop who's seen it all - but is unprepared for Floyd, who talks to the dead. Though she thinks he's a nut case at first, she soon realizes he's telling the truth and decides that he could prove to be very helpful with her police work. Also co-starring in the pilot series is Ben and Kate alumna Echo Kellum who will play Floyd's best friend Doug, described as a successful attorney who lives with his wife and two children, worries about Floyd and wants to help him in any way he can.

Aside from Dead People, The CW has two other pilots for its 2015-16 cycle, namely Cordon, as that series follows an epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives, and a reboot of Tales From the Darkside, the fantasy-thriller anthology series from the 1980s.

Cordon was developed by Julie Plec, and is based on the original Belgian series created by Carl Joos for Eyeworks. David Nutter will direct the pilot and will executive produce with Plec, who penned the pilot. The remake of Tales From the Darkside will have Joe Hill writing the pilot's script and executive producing with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod.
