‘Psych's’ Maggie Lawson Set to Co-Star with Glee's Jane Lynch in ‘Angel from Hell’
Maggie Lawson, 34, best known for her role as Detective Juliet O'Hara in USA Network's Psych, has joined the cast of CBS pilot Angel From Hell where she will play the character of Allison, described as a multi-tasker and perfectionist who is leery when a woman named Amy shows up claiming to be her "guardian angel" and new best friend.
Lawson will co-star with Glee alumna Jane Lynch, 54, who will be playing Amy, described as a "larger-than-life, brassy and flamboyant woman who claims to be another woman's guardian angel." Lawson's Allison as further described by the network, "can't decide if she's actually an angel or if she's just plain nuts."
Lawson and Lynch will be joined in the cast of Angel from Hell by Kyle Bornheimer, 39, best known for his roles on CBS' Worst Week and ABC's Agent Carter, and by Kevin Pollak, 57, whose character Alvin Biletnikoff was seen "killed" in the hit CBS sitcom Mom. Bornheimer will play Brad, described as Allison's younger brother who lives rent-free over her garage, and has a life-long crush on her best friend Jill, while Pollak will portray Marv, described as Allison's father and a veteran dermatologist who has made Allison his junior partner.
Tad Quill who will be writing the script will also executive produce the show, alongside Don Scardino who will be directing the CBS comedy pilot.
Aside from Psych, Lawson also co-starred with James Caan in the short-lived Back in the Game and played a recurring role as the social worker Ms. McMartin during the 12th and last season of Two and a Half Men. Her other notable TV credits include guest starring roles in such series as ER, Family Rules, Felicity, Cheats, Smallville, Tru Calling, Crumbs, Rules of Engagement, Justified, among others. She also starred in such made-for-TV movies as Nancy Drew, Heart of a Stranger, Love Rules and Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman.
