Milla Jovovich-Starrer Thriller ‘Survivor’ Sells to Alchemy
Alchemy, formerly known as Millennium Entertainment, has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Survivor, an upcoming spy action thriller directed by James McTeigue, best known for his work on V For Vendetta, which stars Milla Jovovich as a newly-posted State Department employee at the American embassy in London charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the country, who in the course of carrying out her work, gets targeted for death and framed for crimes she did not commit. Discredited and forced to go on the run while she tries to clear her name, Jovovich's character must also stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year's Eve in Times Square.
Survivor, which will be given by Alchemy with a multi-platform release sometime later this year, also co-stars Pierce Brosnan, Dylan McDermott, Emma Thompson, Angela Bassett, and James D'Arcy. With a screenplay written by Philip Shelby, the film was produced by Charles Winkler, Irwin Winkler, Matt O'Toole and Les Weldon and executive produced by Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson and Jason Bloom.
On the new acquisition, Alchemy's CEO Bill Lee in a statement to The Wrap said: "We're so pleased to add Survivor to our slate. It's a wonderful film that features an all-star cast and non-stop action. The acquisition of Survivor is a great demonstration of the ongoing relationship between our two companies. We're thrilled to continue to acquire and release select films from Millennium Films' production pipeline."
Jovovich, 39, will also next be seen reprising her iconic role as Alice in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the sixth and last installment in the Resident Evil film series created and directed by her husband Paul W.S. Anderson. Filming for the project is set to begin in August 2015.
