Lip Sync Battle: Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson Does Taylor Swift's "Shake It off" in Premiere Episode of LL Cool J's New Show
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will be seen lip syncing Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" in LL Cool J's Lip Sync Battle, a celebrity competition show based on the popular Jimmy Fallon sketch of the same name on the Tonight Show that will now debut April 2 as a regular series on Spike TV. In an Instagram video post sharing snippets from the upcoming show, the macho actor and wrestler wrote: " #LipSyncBattle OF ALL Lip Sync Battles... Channelin' my inner @taylorswift And comin' to take the title from @jimmyfallon #IJustShakeItOffBaby #RockVsFallon #Spike APRIL 2nd."
Lip Sync Battle creators Stephen Merchant, John Krasinski and Fallon as well as host LL Cool J are all signed on to produce and perform on the show. Saturday Night Live's Beth McCarthy-Miller will be serving as the director for the new celebrity competition series. On hosting the series, LL Cool J (James Todd Smith), who is also seen on TV as Special Agent Sam Hannah in NCIS: Los Angeles, in a press statement said: "Like the rest of the world, I'm a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level. I'm thrilled to be working with Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant and the entire team to host the show and can't wait for the fans at home to join in!!"
But before he turns himself into Taylor Swift, The Rock will be seen returning to the Studio 8H stage on 30 Rock for his fourth hosting stint on Saturday Night Live March 28, in time to invite the audience to the opening of his latest action flick Furious 7. For the musical performance segment, his guest will be 21-year-old British singer-songwriter George Ezra, best known for his hit song "Budapest" from his debut studio album "Wanted on Voyage." Johnson last hosted for the SNL show in 2009.
After his stints with Saturday Night Live and Lip Sync Battles, Johnson will next be seen on the big-screen co-starring with Vin Diesel in the highly anticipated Furious 7, which hits theaters April 3, followed by his next action-adventure disaster-themed movie San Andreas on May 29.
