Josh Duhamel and Alice Eve Join Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino in Shintaro Shimosawa's ‘Beyond Deceit’

Josh Duhamel, 42, and Alice Eve, 33, have signed on to join the cast of Beyond Deceit, a legal thriller that will mark the directorial debut of screenwriter Shintaro Shimosawa according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Shimosawa will be directing the project based on his rewrite of a script previously penned by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes which tells the story of an ambitious young lawyer who takes on a big case against a ruthless executive of a pharmaceutical company, only to find himself drawn into a murder case in which he is the prime suspect. Shimosawa's previous credits include being a co-producer on The Grudge horror movies as well as a writer and producer on such TV thrillers as The Ringer, The Following, and Intelligence.

Duhamel is best remembered for co-starring in the first three of the Transformers films in the franchise series and for his appearances in romance films like When in Rome, Life as We Know It, New Year's Eve, Safe Heaven, among others. Duhamel will now star as the ambitious young lawyer who will be taking on the big pharmaceutical company in Beyond Deceit.

Eve made her mark in the industry for her roles in the films Starter for 10, Crossing Over, She's Out of My League, Sex and the City, The Raven, Men in Black 3, and Star Trek Into Darkness. She is cast in Beyond Deceit Duhamel's character's wife.

Duhamel and Eve now join a cast which already includes Anthony Hopkins who will play the big pharma executive and Al Pacino who will play the head of the law firm who is also Duhamel's character's mentor, along with Byung-hun Lee who will play the role of the hit man and Malin Akerman who will portray Duhamel's character's ex-girlfriend who mysteriously returns into his life.

Jonathan Senger and Ellen Wander are producing Beyond Deceit which is expected to begin shooting this month in New Orleans.
