Australia’s Mr. Sign Guy Takes Social Media by Storm
Mr. Sign Guy had taken social media by storm. The guy being referred here is an interpreter named Mark Cave from Australia. He covered the cyclone that battered Queensland in Australia recently.
While Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk gave an update on Cyclone Marcia, social media began to take notice of her sign language interpreter - some saying he stole show, along with our hearts.
The interpreter has been dubbed #SignGuy on Twitter, and viewers have fallen in love with his larger-than-life, animated expressions.
From a report by Yahoo, below are some of the tweets that gave Cave the attention he has right now.
"Early days but I declare the sign language translator at today's press conference the star of TC Marcia. #TCMarcia," tweeted @CookerandLooker.
Another person, @czhedgehog, tweeted, "#signguy doing a GREAT JOB at press conf - #disability matters , thank you. #TCMarcia"
@JBPooket tweeted, "This guy is magic #signguy #TCMarcia"
As for Cave, he's not a big fan of his new found Internet fame.
"I'm sort of a private person. I'd rather not be in the spotlight, but I know this is such an important thing to do, and I feel confident I can do a good job," he said, "I'm just hoping to fly under the radar and nobody will look at me afterwards."
The "Sign Guy" as he has come to be known, revealed he grew up with deaf parents, so learning the language was second nature.
"I was fortunate enough to have deaf parents, so I was brought up with the language," he said. "I went and I studied and became accredited to become a professional level interpreter."
