Alex Rodriguez Writes Heartfelt Apology Note to Yankee Fans, Read Here
New York Yankee star Alex Rodriguez wrote a five-page handwritten apology letter to the fans "for the mistakes that led to my suspension" including his use of performance-enhancing drugs. Once one of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball, the 39-year-old has become disgraced and most fans are just ready for him to go away. He is hoping to gain some sympathy from Yankee fans going into the new season.
"I take full responsibility for the mistakes that led to my suspension for the 2014 season," Alex wrote (you can read full letter at ESPN). "I regret that my actions made the situation worse than it needed to be. To Major League Baseball, the Yankees, the Steinbrenner family, the Players Association and you, the fans, I can only say I'm sorry."
"I accept the fact that many of you will not believe my apology or anything that I say at this point. I understand why and that's on me. It was gracious of the Yankees to offer me the use of Yankee Stadium for this apology but I decided the next time I am in Yankee Stadium, I should be in pinstripes doing my job," Rodriguez added.
The Yankees have their hands tied as they currently owe Alex $61 million over remaining three years left in his contract. They were hoping to void his contract after his year-long suspension for using steroids last year.
Rodriguez has accumulated 654 home runs, 1,969 runs batted in (RBIs), and 2,939 hits in his career. He is a 14-time All-Star and has won three American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, ten Silver Slugger Awards, and two Gold Glove Awards.
