NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp Has Always Been a Bully!
Warren Sapp, a Hall of Famer and NFL Network Analyst, was arrested last week for soliciting a prostitute as well as assault, which was first reported by TMZ.com via Yahoo Sports.
The incident occured at a hotel in Phoenix, where Sapp was covering Super Bowl XLIX, and occured around 7 a.m. local time.
"We were contacted by the Phoenix Police Dept. today in a matter involving a guest," a hotel representative told TMZ. "We are cooperating with police as they look into the situation since it is an active investigation. We have no further comment."
According to reports citing a Phoenix Police Department report, "officers working security at a Downtown Phoenix hotel were investigating a noise disturbance when they were contacted by a female alleging she had been assaulted." The argument, reportedly over money, spilled into the hotel hallway.
Sapp was charged for domestic battery in 2010, although it was eventually dropped. He was also arrested for domestic battery in 2014 in Miami. He has been fired by the NFL Network, where he'd worked as an analyst.
In a report by The Orlando Sentinel, Sapp has since been fired by the NFL Network, the league-owned TV entity that employed him.
NFL Network spokesman Alex Riethmiller said in a prepared press release, "Warren Sapp's contract has been terminated and he no longer works for NFL Network."
Mike DePue, a longtime football coach at Tampa Robinson High School and a Bucs season-ticket holder for decades, had confirmed that Sapp was ultimately a bully. He remembered that one time when Sapp walked nearby, "threw a tantrum" and cursed at him after DePue made eye contact with Sapp.
