League of Legends Tournament News: Lifts LGBT Restrictions; Cash Prize is a Whopping $ 1Million!

Following a report by Shack News, the fantasy sports tournament allows fans to assemble teams of their favorite eSports players and bet real money. If the chosen eSports players do well in the League of Legends Championship Season, fans can earn real money.

The team players created then goes on to compete with everyone else's on a daily basis, with winners earning cash if their team does well.

In another news, Polygon reported that the league promoting an all-women League of Legends competition has removed its restrictions on the number of lesbian, gay and transgender women who can compete on each team, following a backlash when the discriminatory policy came to light.
Garena Phillippines, in a statement apologized "for any offense we caused to the LGBT and gaming communities." It said it arrived at the decision to lift the restrictions after talking with its partners and "re-examining our approach" to the women-only tournament, called Iron Solari.
League of Legends tournaments are frequently saturated with male entrants. Garena said its original intent in starting the Iron Solari tournament was "to promote diversity in the competitive gaming community."
