Birdman Slammed Out at Nicki Minaj's Pre-Grammy Party
Birdman (real name Bryan Williams) and his very big crew were shown by TMZ being turned away from Nicki Minaj's pre-Grammy party in West Hollywood early Sunday, with cops racing over to make sure things didn't get out of hand. But it was not because Nicki wanted her boss out and she was taking sides in his ongoing legal battle with Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.), with his Young Money Entertainment, has filed a $51 million lawsuit against his former mentor Birdman and his Cash Money Records in the Southern District of New York for alleged breach of contract. As claimed in his complaint, Wayne wants to recover the $8 million that he was owed when he began recording his new solo album, plus the $2 million he was guaranteed when he finished it, plus a guaranteed quarterly $200,000 fee of overhead payments, plus the royalties from his and his company's talent Drake's recent albums, all summing up to $51 million.
As later clarified by TMZ, Birdman and his entourage were denied from entering the 1OAK nightclub because they showed up at 1:45 AM looking to order bottle service when the establishment was already closing in 15 minutes at 2:00 AM. Also, at the time they arrived, Nicki had already left the club.
Nicki herself wants to stay neutral in the Birdman-Lil Wayne feud. In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45 on Saturday (via MTV), she shared her sentiments saying: "I am Young Money [Wayne's company]. I ride with Wayne on whatever - that's just how I am. But Baby [her monicker for Birdman] has played such a huge role in my mental stability. I don't know if people know, [but] Baby will call you and text you all day, just making you feel good, making you feel inspired. One time he called me like, 'Yo Barbie, I'm seeing your posters for MYX all around Miami Barbie, you doing your thing Barbie. I respect that.' This is Baby on my phone telling me he respects my business move. With Wayne I have such a different relationship with Wayne, such a cute relationship. I love both of them. I'm praying that everything resolves itself like it always does with family affairs. There just ain't no malicious nothing, this ain't no hate. It's different."
