‘The Flash’ Season 1 Episode 13 Preview: Scarlet Speedster Going Against a Nuclear-Powered Meta-Human with a Split Personality
The Flash season 1 episode 13 airs Tuesday, February 10 on the CW. Directed by Glen Winter from a script written by Keto Shimizu and Aaron Helbing and Ben Sokolowski, the next installment in the TV adaptation of the DC Comics series will have the Scarlet Speedster going against a nuclear-powered meta-human, codenamed Firestorm, who is actually a composite of two different people.
According to the studio's press release, after the team saw Ronnie Raymond (guest star Robbie Amell) attacking a physicist (guest star Bill Dow), Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) and the team will realize they need to go after Caitlin's (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé who is now a dangerous meta-human. They will deduce the best way to track Ronnie is to find Dr. Martin Stein (guest star Victor Garber) who was working on a project called F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. at the time of the particle accelerator explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs.
In the upcoming episode, Barry will also be struggling to balance his duties as The Flash and his relationship with new girlfriend Linda Park (guest star Malese Jow). Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) will be enlisting Cisco's (Carlos Valdes) help to reinvestigate the murder of Barry's mother Nora Allen (guest star Michelle Harrison). Finally, the unscrupulous, trigger-happy General Wade Eiling (Clancy Brown) will be seen making a return to Central City to try and capture the newest meta-human in town.
In the DC Comics mythology, Firestorm, the so-called nuclear-man, is an entity which resulted from the merger or fusion of Ronnie with Dr. Stein, a Nobel-prize winning physicist. Due to Stein's being unconscious during the time of the accident, Raymond was prominently in command of the Firestorm form, with Stein a voice of reason inside his mind. Despite having a dual sense of identity, Firestorm is not a super-villain. Once he got to control his powers and come to terms with the fact that he is a composite of two different but decent people, he became a superhero too.
