Bruce Jenner Involved in a Car Accident That Left One Person Dead
Bruce Jenner was involved in a multi-car collision in Malibu, California on Saturday.
The accident left five person injured and one person dead. According to Jenner's agent, the former Olympic champion was not injured. Details of the accident that occurred around noon on the Pacific Coast Highway in north of Los Angeles, have yet to be shared by the agent.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians cast member is in the spotlight lately due to his much publicized gender transition.
According to the New York Times, Sgt. Philip Brooks of the sheriff's department told reporters that there was no evidence that the 65-year-old reality star was trying to evade paparazzi at the time of the accident, as some websites have reported. Jenner, he said, told officers that he is routinely followed but that was not the case on Saturday.
Photographs from the scene of the accident, and posted online, show Jenner wearing dark glasses and a baseball cap, surveying the wreckage and speaking with emergency responders.
Jenner, Sergeant Brooks said, was driving a black Cadillac Escalade and pulling a trailer with a dune buggy. In halting traffic, a white Lexus sedan apparently struck a Prius that had slowed or stopped. Jenner hit the white sedan from the rear and it veered into oncoming traffic where it was struck head on by a Hummer.
Photographs from the scene show the crushed front of the white sedan. Its driver, reportedly an elderly woman whose identity was not immediately revealed, died in the car. Jenner volunteered to be tested for drugs and alcohol, Sergeants Brooks said.
