‘The Evil Within’ to get First DLC in 2015 Titled 'The Assignment'
Bethesda Softworks' The Evil Within' s first downloadable content (DLC), titled "The Assignment," will be released in early 2015, reports IGN. The DLCs for "The Consequence" and "The Keeper" will launch later in the year, the site adds. "The Assignment" is the first of a two-part story centered around Detective Sebastian Castellanos' partner, Juli Kidman, with part two of her story being continued in "The Consequence."
The Evil Within, also known as Psychobreak in Japan, was released on October 14, 2014, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PC. Directed by Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil 4 fame, The Evil Within is a single-player survival-horror video game which revolves around the main protagonist - a veteran police detective named Sebastian Castellanos (voiced by Anson Mount) who is on the case of a brutal string of murders. He is aided by his colleagues Juli 'Kid' Kidman (voiced by Jennifer Carpenter) and Joseph Oda (Yuri Lowenthal). In the course of their investigation, they will be confronted by a seemingly invincible apparition named Ruvik (voiced by Jackie Earle Haley).
The game is set with Detective Castellanos and his partners arriving at a crime scene located at the Beacon Memorial Hospital. They find a massacre has taken place inside the hospital, now seemingly deserted. After finding a sole survivor, the detective witnesses through the hospital CCTV, fellow police officers running from and firing upon an unseen force. They are then brutally killed by a disfigured, supernatural, hooded, who then appears behind Sebastian and attacks him, knocking him unconscious. He later awakes in the basement of the hospital, and after escaping the dangers that lurk within the bowels of the mental institute, he finds himself thrust into a nightmarish world, where horrific monsters and unimaginable terrors roam. The gameplay begins.
The Evil Within's Season Pass, available for purchase at $20, already includes access to the three planned DLC "The Assignment," "The Consequence," and "The Keeper" add-ons.
