‘Bad Boys 3’ News: Still in the Planning Stage
Bad Boys 3 was said to have been greenlighted according to lead actor Matthew Lawrence late last year. Lawrence mentioned that he had been in talks with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and that scripts were written and parts been casted.
After Bad Boys 2 hit theaters in 2003, director Michael Bay stated that he may direct a sequel in 2008. But the greatest obstacle to the potential sequel is the cost, as he and will Smith demand some of the highest salaries in the film industry.
In the middle of 2014, Bruckheimer announced that Safe House screenwriter David Guggenheim is currently working on the storyline for the sequel. During an interview with the Monte Carlo Television Festival, he was asked if Bad Boys 3 is still happening, in which Bruckheimer replied, "Well, we're working on an outline right now. Hopefully we'll get a screenplay in the next three months. And that will become a movie I hope."
Lawrence did not confirm though whether Will Smith will be back as Mike Lowry and whether Bay will direct the sequel.
As of present, there is no latest buzz yet on the production. Lawrence's last movie was in 2011 for Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.
While Will Smith had his plate full with back to back movies coming up like Focus with Margot Robbie, Concussion and Suicide Squad, an ensemble cast that includes Jared Leto as the Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
