‘Kickboxer’ Reboot News: Alain Moussi Expresses Interest to Play ‘The Immortal Iron Fist’
Kickboxer The Remake or Reboot has been greenlighted since last year and will star stuntman-turned-actor Alain Moussi as Kurt Sloane.
Jean Claude Van Damme, who was the original Kurt Sloane in the 1989 Kickboxer film, will portray as Master Durand in the upcoming reboot. This was the movie that catapulted Van Damme's career into the stratosphere, if you could remember.
Darren Shahlavi will play Eric Sloane, Kurt's brother. Guardian of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista will play Tong Po, the film's antagonist.
The film follows Eric and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a California dynasty of champions. After Eric wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong despite his brother's protests. When Eric dies, Kurt turns to his former mentor Master Durand to seek revenge on the vicious Tong Po.
Other members of the cast are kickboxing champion Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre, Sara Malakul Lane, Joseph Valtellini, Matthew Ziff, Luis Da Silva and Tyron Woodley.
In another news, principal photography took placed in New Orleans and Thailand last November 24, 2014. There were rumors that Radar Pictures left New Orleans without paying its crew and this rumor was never settled until now.
Meanwhile, lead actor Moussi posted a picture of Marvel's Iron Fist in his Facebook account stating his desire to play The Immortal Iron Fist. Iron Fist will be included in theDaredevil reboot to premiere soon and will star January Jones and Luke Cage. But the role has not been filled up yet and Moussi expresses his interest via his post. However, he later on backtracked his post saying, "Apologies for the slightly misleading post... I would love to play Iron Fist and started reading to know more about the story but I am not in the running for the role," according to Nerd Reactor. But if Kickboxer reboot will fare well, Marvel might be vying for Moussi's attention then.
Kickboxer reboot has no release date yet, but will surely announce once there is.
