‘Criminal Minds’ CBS Season 10 Returns With a Trip Down Memory Lane for Joe Mantegna’s Rossi, Re-Opens a Cold Case in Order to Track a Killer Now on the Loose
The hit CBS show Criminal Minds Season 10, episode 13 airs this Wednesday, January 28, at its regular 9:00-10:00 pm time slot and is entitled "Nelson's Sparrow." Directed by Glenn Kershaw from a script written by cast regular Kirsten Vangsness and showrunner Erica Messer, it will have the BAU revisiting its origins when they look at one of Rossi and Gideon's old cases in order to track a killer that got away and solve the current case at hand.
Jason Gideon (portrayed previously by Mandy Patinkin from Seasons 1 to 3) was the BAU's former Senior Supervisory Special Agent and best profiler. However, after a series of emotionally troubling cases, including the murder of his girlfriend Sarah by a fugitive serial killer, he begins to feel burned out. The last straw came when his unit chief, Hotchner, was suspended for two weeks for something for which he feels responsible. As with Jeanne Triplehorn's Dr. Alex Blake, he left his badge and firearm with Dr. Spencer Reid. Jason's last scene in Criminal Minds was with a Nevada diner waitress telling her that he does not know where he is going or how he will know when he gets there. He was seen leaving the diner and driving off.
Criminal Minds stars Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid, A.J. Cook as Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Kate Callahan. Guest starring for episode 13 are Ben Savage as the young Jason Gideon, Robert Dunne as the young Rossi, Arye Gross as Donnie Mallick, Phoebe Neidhardt as Josie Behdart, James Lentzsch as Stephen Gideon, Gina Garcia Sharp as Agent Gina Sharp, Teresa Huang as Dr. Weiss, Judy Levitt as Mary Ellen Barnett, Eileen Grubba as the young Mary Ellen Barnett, David Burr as Dr. Waters, and Wendi West as Miriam.
