'The Loft' Long-delayed Karl Urban and James Marsden Psychological Thriller to Finally Hit Theaters
The Loft, a remake of the 2008 Dutch-language Belgian film of the same name, is set to screen in US theaters beginning January 30.
As with the original Flemish-language movie, the remake is directed by Erik Van Looy. Van De Pauw's screenplay is adapted for American audience by Wesley Strick. Although the film was already completed back in 2011, its theatrical release has been delayed because of a change of the film distributor. Instead of Universal Pictures and Warner Bros., Open Road in now the official distributor for the US release for The Loft.
The Loft follows the story of five married guys who conspire to secretly share a penthouse loft in the city--a place where they can indulge in their deepest fantasies. But the fantasy becomes a nightmare when they discover the dead body of an unknown woman in the loft, and they realize one of them must be involved as they are the only ones with keys to the premises of The Loft. Paranoia seizes them as everyone begins to suspect one another. Friendships are tested, loyalties are questioned and marriages crumble as the group is consumed by fear and suspicion. Through flashbacks, which are intertwined with scenes from the present, the entire story is unraveled.
The five married guys who co-own The Loft are played by Karl Urban as Vincent Stevens, James Marsden as Chris Vanowen, Wentworth Miller as Luke Seacord, Eric Stonestreet as Marty Landry, and Matthias Scoenaerts as Philip Williams. Joining them in the cast are Rhona Mitra as Allison, Rachael Taylor as Ann, Isabel Lucas as Sarah Deakins, Valerie Cruz as Barbara Stevens, Elaine Cassidy as Ellie Seacord, Kali Rocha as Mimi Landry, Margarita Levieva as Vicky, Kristin Lehman as Detective Huggins, Robert Wisdom as Detective Cohagen and Ric Reitz as Joel Kotkin.
