'American Horror Story' Season 5 on FX, Show Creator Ryan Murphy Has ' Big Reinventions' For New Episodes
American Horror Story fans got some insight on the upcoming Season 5 this week. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf spoke to TV Line at the Television Critics Association press tour over and shared about what's coming in 2015.
According to Landgraf, show creator/writer Ryan Murphy will be making a shift and planning a "big reinvention" for Season 5 compared to the current season titled Freak Show (which airs their finale on Wednesday, Jan 21).
Landgraf didn't give out too many details but, "I know what it is, but I can't [say]. I have to let [series boss] Ryan [Murphy] do his thing on that. But it's very different."
Landgraf shared that he enjoyed the series can change up so much from season to season. "One of the things I love so much about that is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast, Landgraf explains. He continued, "I think there's going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 [Coven] and 4 [Freak Show]."
There is no confirmation on what the cast will be for AHS Season 5.
American Horror Story: Freak Show (Season 4) premiered on FX on Wednesday, Oct 8th and the show has already been picked up for a fifth season, THR reports. The Season 4 premiere was the highest rated episode in the series history to date.
Season 4 is set in Jupiter, Florida in the 1950s and filmed in New Orleans for the second year in a row. Creator Murphy stated, "If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"
