Elle Fanning To Star in Horror Film 'The Neon Demon'
The projects don't seem to end for Dakota Fanning's little sister. After her performance as Princess Aurora in Maleficent, she is now slated to take on the role of an aspiring model in Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon.
The 16-year-old actress is reported to be in final negotiations with the horror film project where it will be Refn's first ever west coast-set project since his work in the 2011 film Drive. According to a tweet posted by the Danish film-maker, The Guardian quotes "Dear Friends - Yes it's true, @ElleFanning will be a super cool wonder woman in THE NEON DEMON. #ellefanning #theneondemon". This won't be the first time Fanning's got to work with a highly acclaimed director as she has already worked with the likes of J.J Abrams, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola and David Fincher.
According to reports, the film has been described as one that is driven by female horror. The script was co-written by Refn and first-timer Mary Laws who is a graduate of Yale's play-writing programme. Refn will also co-produce the film with Lena Borglum. The Neon Demon will also be co-financed by Gaumont and Wild Bunch
The film director also shared on how he got the idea for the film, SlashFilm quotes, "One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures".
The Neon Demon will begin production on March.
