Brad Pitt is on a roll! The A-lister is currently in talks to star in the film adaptation of Michael Lewis' bestselling book "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine". He may be co-starring with Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale in this project.

Variety shares that The Big Short tells the story about the buildup to the housing bubble crash during the 2000s, highlighting the key players behind the financial crisis and those who predicted it would burst.

According to People, the film will be produced by Pitt and his Plan B Production company with Adam McKay to write the script and serve as its director as well. This won't be the first time Pitt will be adapting Lewis' creations as he had previously worked on an adaptation of the author's other work, Moneyball in 2012 where Pitt received an Oscar nomination. Another Lewis book that had been adapted to the big screen was Sandra Bullock's The Blind Side which also received an Oscar nod.

Other films produced by Pitt's production company were 2013's 12 Years A Slave and 2014's Selma. Currently, there has been no time table set for the new Brad Pitt film nor it is confirmed that Gosling and Bale would be onboard in the project or that is has a set release date. However, Cinemablend reports that the movie has been made into a priority by Paramount Pictures.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the project is not expected to be Bale's next, he is poised to play the late Steve Jobs for an untitled project that was originally set up at Sony (it was eventually put in turnaround and picked up by Universal). He also attached to star in Fox's The Deep Blue Goodbye. On the other side of the fence, Gosling just finished shooting his LA detective story, The Nice Guys.
