'American Idol' FOX Season 14 Recap: Kansas City Auditions
American Idol Season 14 is underway and here is a quick recap of the latest happenings from you favorite singing show in case you missed it.
This season started off in Kansan City and it was pretty unique with its Idol bus tour gig. The chosen best singers were asked to hop onto the Idol bus for further auditions. The highlight of the show was an accordion player, which is a very rare sight these days.
One of the contestants was Ron Wilson, better known as Big Sexy. He sang "Let's Get it On" and had a great time with the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez when he started the song. Keith and Harry offered him a lot of constructive criticism at the end of his performance, even though they were talking to each other throughout the performance. Later on Harry said that with his showmanship he also ought to showcase some vocal capabilities as well.
Ellen Petersen sang "I Wanna Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart" by Patsy Montana and she was young, with a beautiful soulful voice, and her banjo playing skills were out of the world; Joey Cook sang "King of Spain" by The Tallest Man on Earth and this was the great master mind behind the accordion which she played flawlessly, but her voice was a little garbled in front of her instrument; Casey Thrasher sang "Who I Am With You" by Chris Young" impressing the judges with her country music skills; Kohlton Pascal sang "Sitting Here Beside Me" in his thick gravelly voice; Anton Bushner sang "Tonight I Wanna Cry" by Keith Urban and was a little lagging behind with his skills; Stephanie Gummelt sang "Chore" and was raved by only one judge.
All in all, it was fun, some jokes were played around here and there, and every one had a good time. Stay tuned to FOX to see what happens next on American Idol.
