Triple Nine: Another Heist Movie Involving Dirty Cops That Has Gone Unexpectedly Wrong
Open Road Films' Triple Nine is a crime-drama heist thriller movie about a group of corrupt police officers who are blackmailed into pulling off a seemingly impossible heist. To divert attention from themselves, they plot the murder of a rookie police officer in order to set off a '999 code' for 'officer down', to pull off the heist across town. Directed by John Hillcoat from a script written by Matt Cook, Triple Nine opens in US theaters beginning September 11.
According to the plot summary, a crew of dirty L.A. cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob into executing a virtually impossible heist. The only way they can pull it off is by manufacturing a 999 situation. But their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die, Cris Allen (played by Casey Affleck) foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, counter-double-crosses and revenge.
Triple Nine stars Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Teresa Palmer, Norman Reedus, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Luis Da Silva, and Clifton Collins Jr.
