The NFL made the official announcement in November that Katy Perry would be headlining the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show on Feb. 1, 2015. Now, we hear from Perry herself about that rock n' roll icon, Lenny Kravitz, will be joining her onstage during the halftime performance. She announced the news during an NBC interview but did not go into detail about what songs they would be performing. You can check out the clip above.

While Perry's setlist will remain a secret until the show, she has a good number of clean hits to choose from including "Roar" and "Fireworks" which would be expected to be in the set. Now that Kravitz has been announced, we will have to wait and see if any other guest performers will join Perry on the stage as a last minute surprise.

Perry has been included in the Forbes list of "Top-Earning Women In Music" for 2011, 2012, and 2013. Throughout her career, she has sold 11 million albums and 81 million singles worldwide, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time

The official sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show, Pepsi, surely took notice of Perry's monumental social media presence when making their final decision. Perry is the most followed person on twitter with over 60 million followers, in addition to her over 76 million fans on Facebook. So it was a safe bet for Pepsi that viewership would be strong just through her promoting it to her own following.

Perry will be performing at a prime year as last years halftime performance by Bruno Mars was the most watched halftime show ever with 115.3 million viewers, beating out Beyonce's 2013 halftime show, which attracted 110.5 million viewers. So we will have to see if Perry can set a new mark this year.

Everyone can tune into Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to see what the 30-year-old singer has up her sleeve as the stages the past several years seem to be able to pull off just about anything that can be imagined.
