Jurassic World’s new star attraction is I-Rex, a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur
Steven Spielberg's Jurassic World (aka Jurassic Park IV), the fourth film in the Jurassic Park multimedia franchise based on the Michael Crichton novel of the same name, will be released in 3D on June 12, a Friday, according to Universal Studios' official announcement. Filming wrapped up August 5 with producer Frank Marshall even tweeting a picture of the final day's call sheet that says "Picture Finish." Directed by Colin Trevorrow based on a script he co-wrote with Derek Connolly, Jurassic World will take off twenty-two years after the Jurassic Park III incidents.
Now under new ownership and new management, the devastated theme park and other InGen facilities will have been totally re-built and fully restored. Now, Isla Nublar features a truly functioning dinosaur theme park, re-named 'Jurassic World,' as originally envisioned by founder John Hammond. Eventually though, after 10 years of operation, visitor rates began to decline. In order to re-spark interest in the park, a new attraction has to be created. A new form of dinosaur was genetically modified using DNA from other species. Eventually, the new dinosaur breed proved much smarter and fiercer than expected. The corporate experiment backfires horribly. The new star attraction of the park, rumored to be named Indominus Rex (which translates to un-tamable king), began attacking the visitors and staff of the Jurassic World. To combat the new threat to the park, the humans must turn to their now relatively tamed Velociraptors for help.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt as "Owen," an ex-military who works at the theme park, Bryce Dallas Howard as "Beth," a corporate scientist for an unknown organization, Irrfan Khan as "Patel," the head of Patel Corporation which is the new owner of the theme park, and Vincent D'Onofrio as "Morton," Patel's CFO. Others confirmed in the cast include Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus, B.D. Wong reprising his role in the first film as "Dr. Wu", Brian Tee, Andy Buckley and James DuMont.
