Entourage: From TV to the Big Screen, Vincent Chase and his Entourage Continue the Ride
Warner Bros. And HBO's Entourage, the full-length feature that serves as a continuation of the TV series of the same name, will finally be seen in theaters beginning June 12. The script for the film was co-written by director Doug Ellin with Rob Weis, who is also co-producing the film with Mark Wahlberg. Entourage, the movie, picks up six months after Entourage, the TV series' finale aired.
Entourage will continue to follow the career of movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his entourage - Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly), Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), Johnny 'Drama' Chase (Kevin Dillon), and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara). Ari will be seen bankrolling Vince's directorial debut with a $100 million budget which goes $15 million over. He does this by securing financing from a Texas billionaire Larsen McCredle and his son Travis. Vince continues his carefree lifestyle saying if the film venture fails, they can just move back to Queens. Now with his own studio, Ari also deals with the problems of being a start-up movie producer in his own ill-tempered way
Asked what fans may expect to see in the movie based on his script, Ellin in an interview with Deadline Hollywood said: "There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that's still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters."
Producer Mark Wahlberg who has already seen the finished film is clearly pleased with the results. In fact, he now wants an earlier release date if it's possible and he can't wait to do the sequel. In an interview with Access Hollywood, he said: "I don't think we're going to be able to wait a year to release the movie. We're going to show the studio sooner, rather than later. If [however] it makes most sense to wait until June, we'll wait until June... [But] I told Doug [Ellin], 'Let's not wait for the movie to come out to start planning the next one because this is definitely going to be a big success. If I have anything to do with it, there will be [a sequel]."
Joining the mainstay cast of Entourage are Perrey Reeves, Rex Lee, Scott Caan, Debi Mazar, Constance Zimmer, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rhys Coiro, Nora Dunn, Billy Bob Thornton, Haley Joel Osment, Martin Landau, Bow Wow, and Kid Cudi. There will also be surprise cameo appearances in the film by Liam Neeson, Piers Morgan, Cynthia Kirchner, Russel Wilson and Emily Ratajkowski as themselves. According to The Daily Mail, UFC women's mixed martial arts champion Ronda Rousey will also have a cameo playing herself. She will be seen in a scene where she will be shown attacking Vincent Chase and his entourage in their car.
