The Blacklist Season 2 will be back on Sunday, February 1, right after the Super Bowl on NBC. Following its mid-season premier, the show will be returning to a weekday programming schedule, airing every Thursdays at the 9:00 p.m. time slot.

About the upcoming post-Super Bowl still untitled episode, The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp tells TVGuide that it will be taking place in a "black site prison called The Factory, which is an off-the-books interrogation facility in the Bering Sea" and that it will feature Ron Perlman as blacklister Luther Braxton, a ruthless thief with a not-so-friendly history with Red (James Spader). Also, the mid-season premier will be the first of a two-part storyline which will conclude on the series' new Thursday-night berth. According to Bokenkamp, the rest of Season 2 will also delve into Liz's (Meghan Boone) past, give answers about Tom (Ryan Eggold) and explore whatever The Fulcrum is. He added: "You will hear about The Fulcrum in the Super Bowl episode. Red is assembling those clues and trying to figure what out Fitch was trying to warn him about. There's a ticking clock that underscores the back half of the season."

TV Guide's own Adam Bryant back in December wrote: "Now that the Berlin story line is wrapped up, the Super Bowl episode will be more of a stand-alone event. But it's shaping up to be an explosion-heavy spectacle - one that kicks off with Red being kidnapped! His abduction, however, could be part of a plan to stay close to the episode's villain (Perlman). In fact, Red has a few tricks up his sleeve, one of which will seriously scare Liz." Apparently, Perlman's Braxton is also after the mysterious Fulcrum that Fitch (Alan Alda) asked Red about during the mid-season finale. In that 8th episode of The Blacklist, Fitch also told Red that his death will trigger a series of events that will make it harder for the moderates to resist the radicals, with conditions getting by 2017. He then told Red the combination to a safe he has hidden away in in St. Petersburg but was unable to tell him the exact location before the bomb strapped around his neck exploded.
