The Bourne 5 News and Update: Damon to star in the sequel while Renner to star on a later time
The Bourne Legacy marks the first movie that does not star Jason Bourne himself, Matt Damon. The movie has Jeremy Renner playing Aaron Cross. Though the film did not generate more income than the three previous Bourne movies, it catapulted Renner into the action dome genre.
Previous reports show that Matt Damon will no longer reprise his role if Paul Greengrass won't direct. As of this writing, Damon and Greengrass will commence where they left off with the next installment of the Bourne franchise.
But this does not mean that Renner will not continue with the solo Aaron Cross project. Fast and Furious' Justin Lin had been chosen as the new director but there is still no update as to when filming will start.
Lin, as of the moment will now helm the third installment of the Star Trek franchise after Roberto Orci dropped off the project as writer and director. It was supposed to be Orci's directorial debut though he is confirmed to be acting as a producer of the franchise.
The filming of the Renner-Bourne project will be delayed due to commitments by Lin. But the Damon-Bourne project is a go as the writers will return to the original storyline all according to the original protagonist, Jason Bourne.
The storyline will somehow consists of a potential Bourne and Cross crossover as the franchise progresses. Well, this is one moment fans would not want to miss.
Meanwhile, Renner is set to reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the upcoming Avengers sequel. He will finish 2015 with a reprisal of yet another character in Mission Impossible 5, William Brandt.
