Jennifer Aniston Showered with Best Actress Noms for her movie, Cake
Jennifer Aniston is on her way to getting a nod and hopefully win the 2015 Academy Awards for Best Actress.
Her latest project, Cake, is getting a lot of nods from almost every award-giving body, especially her acting in the film.
Aniston became a hit sensation worldwide via the TV sitcom Friends, which earned her the Emmy for Outstanding Leading Actress. Her succeeding films were mostly on the romantic-comedy genre. After 27 years in the film industry, it is about time for the 45-year-old actress to get noticed with her incredible acting chops.
The California-born actress plays Claire Simmons, a woman suffering from chronic pain after a tragic accident. She transformed into a make-up less woman with scars on her face and nails the part. Her co-star Anna Kendrick praised Aniston for her remarkable performance.
The movie received a standing ovation at the 2014 Toronto International Festival and had Aniston broke down in tears. The film received a mixed or average review from critics, but her performance gave her nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Critics' Choice Awards and People Magazine Award. The later awarded her the Movie Performance of the Year Award in the Actress category.
"The reason I fell in love with my character was her insanely acerbic wit, this sharp razor-tongue quality about her that I found endearing," Aniston said, according to Deadline.
The Friends alum was last seen in the Horrible Bosses sequel reprising her role as the sex-addict Dr. Julia Harris. She will be seen next in the upcoming comedy drama titled She's Funny That Way, alongside Owen Wilson and Imogen Poots. The film will be released on March 20, 2015.
