Teen Mom star Ryan Edwards in head-on crash accident, reportedly now ‘okay’
Ryan Edwards, the 25-year-old star of the now-defunct Teen Mom reality TV series, was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on Friday in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennesee, "that left him bloody on the side of the road," according to TMZ.
As gathered by the celebrity gossip and news site from Chattanooga police officials, "two vehicles crashed into each other head-on and right now the cause is still under investigation." However, TMZ was also reportedly told by "multiple witnesses" that "they saw Ryan swerve across double yellow lines -- while apparently speeding -- and smash into another woman's vehicle."
The still unidentified woman driver was taken by the responding rescue workers to the hospital by ambulance. Ryan on the other hand reportedly refused, telling responders that he would instead have a friend pick him up at the crash site. An exclusive TMZ photo following the accident shows Ryan sitting on a sidewalk with his head wrapped with white gauze and bandages as blood continued to drip down his face. Behind him, a fire fighter held his neck in a brace as he was being interviewed by someone, possibly a police official, while he was holding a phone. According to TMZ, "he managed to avoid any major injuries."
The day following the accident, Ryan's former Teen Mom co-star, ex-partner and the mother of his child, the 22-year-old Maci Bookout, updated fans on his condition via Twitter. She wrote "Ryan was involved in a car accident yesterday, the articles 'reporting the story' have many errors in their facts. Thankfully Ryan is okay!"
Also that Saturday, according to Daily Mail, Ryan himself shared pictures from the accident scene on his Facebook page along with the caption that read: "Ryan was in a bad car crash yesterday. Thankfully he is ok." Among the pictures is one which reportedly showed the damage done to his red two-door vehicle.
There is no official news yet as to the condition of the other victim in the head-on crash accident.
