Why Channing Tatum Should’ve Been Nominated For A Golden Globe
With awards season coming up fast, it is not strange to see lists of names of nominees scattering all over the internet, the latest being the list of nominees for the Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. However, both award shows did not have a name in either of their lists - Channing Tatum. As much as his performance on the Foxcatcher was superb, it would seem that it was not enough to get a nod.
In Foxcatcher, Tatum plays the role of Olympic champion, Mark Schultz and is co-starred by Steve Carell. What's different about this role from the other ones he had taken before is that his character is extremely flawed and completely different from how the actor is in real life and from the previous roles he had taken before. The film also made Tatum explore new heights as an actor even going as far as destroying a hotel room, gorging on food and smashing his face on a mirror.
Don't worry Channing, you're not the only one who have been snubbed. According to a report by ETOnline, Brad Pitt's Fury and Angelina Jolie's Unbroken both did not get any nods for now. But who knows? There might be surprises in store during the show proper.
Though Tatum may have not gotten any nods for this year, hopefully he might get nods for the next awards season for his role in the upcoming stripper film, Magic Mike XXL where he stars with Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer. The first Magic Mike film lauded Tatum as People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2012.
The Golden Globes is set to air with a live telecast on January 11. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be returning as hosts once more for the prestigious event.
