Twitter Explodes Over Paul Rosolie's Failed Anaconda Stunt on Discovery’s Eaten Alive
It was highly anticipated as one of the sensational animal stunts ever to be seen on TV, but as viewers tuned in to the Discovery's Eaten Alive special, they were instead faced with a huge let-down.
Naturalist Paul Rosolie was already geared up with a special protective outfit that would enable him to go inside by being eaten alive but without getting killed. However, after spending so much time on looking for the perfect creature, Rosolie called time on the stunt only after his head was getting eaten by the reptile. This had led to so many viewers to express disappointment and resort to social media and complain about the apparent disatisfaction.
Rosolie was wearing a carbon fibre suit, a specially designed suit that was to protect him from the potential of the snake to constrict his heart and kill him. What was initially seen was the snake biting off his helmet, but then, before the Amazon conservationist could even go further into the snake's stomach-the promise of which had merited unease and disapproval amongst animal rights advocates-he screamed for his security team for help out of the said animal.
According to Rosolie, he started calling for help when he felt his arm started to break. The team never tried it for the second time as the animal was finally released back to its habitat.
"I started to feel the blood drain out of my hand and I felt the bone flex," Rosolie explained in Us Weekly. "And when I got to the point where I felt like it was going to snap I had to tap out," he said.
It was only a matter of minutes when social media (especially Twitter) exploded with viewer disappointment, where many of them compared the supposed stunt to the famous The Mysteries of Al Capone's Vaults in 1986. In the episode, which was a TV special anticipated by millions of viewers, the show had given its word that they will look into the Chicago hotel vault where, supposedly, the famous gangster hid some of his wealth. However, viewers were very much disappointed upon the revelation, in the end, that the vault actually contained nothing else but some dusts and a few empty bottles.
