Miley Cyrus Debuts New Song 'The Twinkle Song' About Her Friend's Dead Cat, Watch Intimate Performance Here (VIDEO)
Miley Cyrus had a performance at Art Basel in Miami last week and she surprised her fans by debuting a new song titled, "The Twinkle Song". She shared that the song was inspired by dreams she had when her friend's cat died. She also admitted that she had never performed the song before and only played it in her living room, so she was "nervous" to do it. She sang the song by herself at the piano, you can check out the video above.
"I write about death a lot," Miley told the crowd. "My friend, she lost her cat, and I had these crazy dreams that night that her cat died, so I feel like her cat told me what I was supposed to say to her to get her through it ... It was more therapy to me than anything."
"I had a dream David Bowie taught us how to skateboard," Miley begins the ballad.
Cyrus' fourth studio album Bangerz (2013) had huge hit singles including "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball", with the latter became her first number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Cyrus has had five non-consecutive number-one albums on the U.S. Billboard 200, two of which are soundtracks credited to her titular character Hannah Montana, and has earned numerous awards and nominations. In 2010, Cyrus ranked number thirteen on Forbes ' Celebrity 100, and was named the "Most Charted Teenager" in the 2011 Guinness World Records with twenty-nine Billboard Hot 100 entries as of November 2009. In 2013, she was declared "Artist of the Year" by MTV.
