Celebrity body news: Jennifer Aniston puts on weight for her role in Cake
Celebrity body news: Jennifer Aniston said she stopped working out for two months for her role in the movie Cake, a movie that's gaining some Oscar buzz.
To play Claire Simmons, a woman left consistently in pain after a car accident, the 45 year old Friends and Horrible Bosses star had to add a couple of pounds to her svelte frame.
She also had to lower the cadence of her voice to get into character.
"I basically just didn't work out for two-and-a-half months. I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am. I was still healthy, but I'd allow more."
The role also required for her to go completely sans makeup on camera. But to achieve that gaunt look, they used a bit of shading to enhance the dark circles under her eyes.
Aniston had to do a lot of research. The Friends alum explained that first it was just understanding the logistics of what the accident was -- where did the pain exist, what was the injury.
After that, it was all about getting the cadence of the character's voice, lowering the voice into her body.
Completing the look were fake scars and they had an extraordinary makeup artist that create the scars for Aniston. The realistic results were more like from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and a bit of Freddy Kruger.
The transformation ultimately paid off. "And by the end, I didn't even notice they were there," she said. "And I also thought they were...I don't know, I thought they were kind of beautiful."
