Demi Lovato on her former BFF Miley Cyrus: We have nothing in common
They have indeed grown worlds apart. Demi Lovato recently answered questions on what the deal is between her and her former best friend and fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus on Boston's The TJ Show.
A fan called in and asked Lovato if she and Cyrus were still friends. This elicited a rather awkward answer from the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer.
"Umm, yeah... that. We're like, acquaintances," Lovato said.
The 22 year old performer followed it up by saying that she and the Hannah Montana star had already drifted away from each other.
"Yeah, its life and people change," she explained.
"And you, know, I don't have anything in common with her anymore, and I wish her all the best."
The girls made waves as Disney Channel stars, together with the Jonas Brothers (Nick, Joe, and Kevin) and Selena Gomez of Wizards of Waverly Place fame.
Observers can tell the difference: while Cyrus has adopted the rock and roll lifestyle, Lovato has kept a low-key celebrity profile.
Lovato has tweeted: "I feel like I don't fit in with Hollyweird at all and I'm actually kind of proud/happy about that."
In a November 2013 interview with Entertainment Weekly, she expressed her thoughts on Cyrus's life choices: "She's having fun and figuring out who she is, and this is the age when that happens," she mused. "I think that... [long pause and a smile] she's doing her own thing. Good for her."
As for her Selena Gomez, Lovato has earlier admitted that she no longer follows her fellow teen queen on social media.
"I think it's just one of those things where people change and people grow apart," she noted.
