Hart of Dixie Season 4 news, updates: Hart of Dixie star Rachel Bilson successfully hides baby bump during shooting of Hart of Dixie, gives birth to a baby girl
"Hart of Dixie" Season 4 news and update: unknown to many, 33-year old Rachel Bilson was pregnant with her first child while filming the latest season of the hit tv series. In the trailer for "Hart of Dixie" Season 4, The O.C. alumnus is seen wearing looser clothing, and can be seen standing behind the kitchen counter or next to a big stereo to conceal her pregnancy. Who would have known?
The show's production team all rallied behind the actress as well. To work around Bilson's pregnancy, "Hart of Dixie" only has 10 episodes this season. She then took a full maternity leave after the shoot wrapped up.
In the comedy drama series, Bilson plays Dr. Zoe Hart, who, after her dreams of being a heart surgeon in New York fall apart, moves to Alabama to work as a general practitioner.
"I'm lucky with all my co-stars and also Zoe is an idiot and it's fun playing an idiot," Bilson also joked in a previous E! interview. "We have a solid thing going at this point and we have so many fun things to play with and it's so different from any other show on the network," she added.
Bilson has since given birth to a baby girl, Briar Rose, by long-time beau Hayden Christensen of Star Wars fame. The two met while filming the 2007 action movie Jumper.
"Hart of Dixie" Season 4 will premiere on January 9, 2015. Joining Bilson are Jaime King as Lemon Breeland; Cress Williams as Lavon Hayes; Wilson Bethel as Wade Kinsella; Tim Matheson as Dr. Bertram "Brick" Breeland; Scott Porter as George Tucker; and Kaitlyn Black as Annabeth Nass.
Created by Leila Gerstein in 2011, Hart of Dixie aired to mixed reviews, with critics saying that Bilson was not convincing as a heart surgeon. Nevertheless, the show was nominated in the Favorite International Drama category of the 2014 Astra Awards and Choice TV Show: Drama category in the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. Bilson was also nominated in the latter's Choice TV Actress: Drama category.
