Next month, shoppers will be rushing into their favorite stores to get their desired Christmas items for less, but this year may be a little different than past holiday seasons. While most stores usually begin their sales on Thursday evening, many retailers have chosen to keep their doors shut for the entirety of Thanksgiving Day.
"With just weeks to go before the 2014 holiday shopping season officially begins, there are many shoppers and retail store employees who are boycotting stores who start their doorbuster deals one day early on Thanksgiving Day," The Inquisitr reported on Oct. 26.

Because of the outcry regarding Thanksgiving Day shopping, including a Facebook page calling for a boycott, a number of stores will be closed on Thanksgiving. Among them are American Girl, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Burlington, Costco, Crate and Barrel, Dillard’s, Gordmans, Homegoods, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, Marshalls, Nordstrom, Pier 1 Imports, Publix, REI, Sierra Trading Post and T.J.Maxx.
Although not all stores will allow shoppers to get a head start on their Black Friday shopping, there are a few who will. First to confirm their Black Friday sales would begin on Thursday was Macy’s. Most of their locations will open on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m.
Walmart and Best Buy will open early, as well, offering Black Friday deals beginning on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
