Hoult, who appeared on Fox's Good Day New York on Thursday to promote his upcoming film, Young Ones, dated Lawrence when the hacked photos were allegedly taken.
"It's shocking that things like that happen in the world. It's a shame," he said, according to an Oct. 10 report by the Los Angeles Times.

What made the situation even more awkward was that the film's director, Jake Paltrow, Gwyneth Paltrow's younger brother, was also present for the interview. Lawrence has recently been linked to Gwyneth's ex, Coldplay front man Chris Martin.
Lawrence recently spoke out about the incident for the first time to Vanity Fair magazine. "It is a sexual violation. It's disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change," she said, according to MSN.
Lawrence is one of the most prominent celebrities affected by the hackings. However, there have been other big-name celebrities' affected, as well. These include Kate Upton, Kim Kardashian and Gabrielle Union.
Union released a statement to TMZ, via The Mirror, reminding readers that although her images were authentic, it is more important to focus on the criminal intent in distributing the photos.
"I can't help but to be reminded that since the dawn of time, women and children, specifically women of color, have been victimized, and the power over their own bodies taken from them. These atrocities... continue worldwide," Union said.
The FBI is continuing their investigations, but has not released any relevant information as of yet. Keep tuned with Celebeat for updates on the scandal.
