Leah Calvert's ex-husband referred to her as an "incompetent mother" during a recent court appearance.
'Teen Mom 2' Star Corey Simms Wants Custody Of His And Leah's Twins
In a sneak peek at next week's Teen Mom 2 reunion special, Calvert sits down for a one-on-on interview with Dr. Drew. During their chat, Calvert opens up about the devastating custody battle between herself and ex-husband, Corey Simms.
“In court, they said I was an incompetent mother," Calvert explained to Dr. Drew, according to an Oct. 3 report by Radar Online. Ali "missed a little bit of therapy and school and the reason was because if my baby comes to me and she’s like, ‘Mommy, I’m hurting,’ I’m not supposed to force her because it could over-exert her. Or with therapy, she was sick. Stuff like that. It was reasonable excuses.”
'Teen Mom 2' Star Leah Calvert "Shocked" After Corey Simms Files For Full Custody Of Twins
Calvert and Simms welcomed their twins, Ali and Aleeah, in 2009, and married shortly after. However, their union lasted just six months. Following their divorce, each party remarried, Calvert to husband Jeremy, and Simms to wife Miranda.
During season 5b of Teen Mom 2, things became tense between Calvert and Simms, who had previously gotten along fairly well when it came to the co-parenting of their twins. Then, after Calvert was seen slurring her words and admitting to feeling "druggy" while on prescription medication, Simms reportedly grew concerned and filed for full custody of their kids.
For Calvert's part, she claimed Simms wasn't really concerned about the issue -- at least not at the time.
“I was like on that medication for like a week," she explained. "And actually Corey didn’t even know that I was on [it].”
Teen Mom 2's season 5b reunion special airs on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. on MTV.
