'RHONY' Season Seven: Housewives Fired By Bravo?

Will the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City be fired ahead of the upcoming seventh season?

Despite the reality show's dwindling ratings, a source claims the cast is not in jeopardy of being fired and will return to the show next year.

“The cast mates aren’t fired,” a source close to the show told Radar Online on Aug. 25. “There’s zero fact to it. Every year they say people will be fired. They’ll put that out in the news because they always need new girls.”

In the past few years, Bravo has made several changes to the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City. After season four, the network chose to fire four of its stars, Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop, and bring aboard three new wives, Heather Thomson, Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher. Unfortunately, the cast shake-up resulted in a ratings decline, which the network attempted to rekindle with new housewife Kristen Taekman during season six. However, the ratings continued to drop.

Still, Radar's source insists the network has no re-casting plans -- especially not when it comes to the show's longest-running housewives, Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan.

“When it’s time to do negotiations Ramona and Sonja would be the first to know,” the source added. “There is no show without Ramona and Sonja. Sonja is the funny sex pot, and Ramona’s the one who throws glasses.”
