French Montana Defends Himself: Not 'Capitalizing' On Khloe Kardashian's Fame

French Montana is taking back what he said about "capitalizing" on girlfriend Khloe Kardashian's fame.

Although Kardashian, 30, said the comments didn't bother her, Montana set out to defend what he said, as well as his relationship with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star. In a new interview, the Don't Panic rapper, 29, said his comments in Billboard Magazine were taken out of context and made sure to clear up any rumors.

"I was so mad about that. If I'm with somebody, I'm not with them for that reason," Montana told Access Hollywood on Aug. 19, adding there was nothing he wouldn't do for the reality star. "She supports me with everything I do. When it comes to her career, I don't think about it. If she needs me to do something, I do it."

That includes appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which Montana admitted he has a love-hate relationship with.

"I hate being on camera," he said in the interview. "Sometimes you're not ready for it and it's too much pressure, but I [also love it. But I hate how it happened... all the commotion."

The interview moved to deeper and emotional territory when Montana spoke freely about his near death experience in 2003. The rapper suffered a gunshot wound to the head, which almost took his life. He credits that moment for making more conscious and careful decisions, he told Access Hollywood.

"After you go through something like that, you ain't making no mistakes," he said. "You calculate every move you do. I just feel like it was karma. When you do negative stuff in your life, it always comes back to you. I feel like that's what it is.
