Lamar Odom Fired: The Reason Why The New York Knicks Released Khloe Kardashian's Husband
The reason behind Lamar Odom's release from the New York Knicks has reportedly been revealed.
Just two weeks after the New York Knicks chose to waive Lamar Odom for their upcoming season, a source has claimed that Odom was extremely unprofessional during his time with the team and often chose to skip team meetings.
“He just stopped showing up for meetings,” an insider revealed to Life & Style on July 23. “I don’t believe Lamar has a cellphone. It’s impossible to get a hold of him.”
The Knicks originally signed Odom on April 16, 2014, the last day of their regular season, to a two-year deal with his second year not guaranteed. According to reports, the Knicks wanted a chance to monitor Odom in the months after his signing before they agreed to the second year. Unfortunately, in the end, the Knicks' head coach, Phil Jackson, wasn't satisfied with Odom's behavior and opted to waive the opportunity to move forward with him.
Although Odom claims to have put his drug use behind him, Life & Style's source said that “he would disappear for days and even weeks at a time, and nobody would be able to get in touch with him. It was so unprofessional!”
Odom's alleged drug use began making headlines last summer and was followed by three different reports of rumored affairs. Months after the reports surfaced, on Dec. 13, 2013, Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian, filed for divorce.
Odom has yet to comment on his release from the Knicks.
